Biography
Rooted in Houston, TX Nathan "Happy" Perez first began his formidable career as a music producer across all genres using a $20 Casio Keyboard from Wal-Mart. By the age of twenty, Happy Perez quickly gained respect for his early work with Master P and No Limit Records by producing "How You Do Dat" for Young Bleed feat. Master P and C-Loc.
Since those early days of success, Happy has become more widely known for hits like Baby Bash’s “Suga Suga” feat. Frankie J., Miguel's "Sure Thing" & "My Piece” and is now not only a multi-platinum producer, but a GRAMMY Award winner as well. Happy won his first GRAMMY Award for his production on Ludacris' album Release Therapy with his track “End of the Night.” Adding to his list of accomplishments & impressive discography, Happy Perez co-produced Kanye West’s “Power” and also played an instrumental role in crafting Frank Ocean’s sound for his 2011 mixtape Nostalgia: Ultra featuring Perez-produced records “Songs for Women” and “We All Try.” Almost 5 years after first meeting & creating “Sure Thing” for Miguel in 2007, the two teamed up again for Miguel’s 2nd studio album Kaleidoscope Dream, which included “Don’t Look Back”.
In 2013 Happy scored another platinum hit with the iconic Mariah Carey's hit single "Beautiful" featuring Miguel, while also working on K. Michelle’s debut album Rebellious Soul, which also went #1 on the Urban charts & #2 overall in the country. Now in 2014, having been signed to blakbook mgmt. for three years, Happy has solidified his position among today’s A-list music producers foreshadowing the legacy of a marquee producer.
Happy’s forthcoming projects for 2014 include artists such as Miguel and Wiz Khalifa, and he is also developing new artists such as Dr. Luke’s Becky G, Snow Tha Product, and Ben Stevenson.
